Websites Are Like Cars.

When you buy a new car, what do you do? Do you call the dealership and say, “what is your best car and best price?” Or do you go to the dealership, talk to a salesperson, and gather information on what best fits you? Obviously, you wouldn’t want to just buy any car! Imagine you call, get a car at the best price, then you show up and get in the car and it’s too small, or too big. Doesn’t fit your needs and isn’t your style at all. It’s not specific to you!

Why am I talking about cars? Well, because the way we view buying a car should be similar to how we view developing a website. Let me explain.

When you call a marketing agency for a quote on a new website and they give you a ballpark estimate, that is usually just for a general website. You could proceed; but what would you be missing?  What more could your website be doing for you to help you increase your leads or sales?

You are missing out on the personal touch. Branding and content is written with your target audience in mind. You would be missing out on specific formatting, links, and navigation that makes sense for your business. Your website is now going to become a random car that has a motor and 4 wheels.  It may not be the most efficient or the right size but it will get you from point to point.

Oh…and another thing.

When you buy a car, you typically take into account the needs of today along with what you will need several years from now.  Your website will last a while and if done properly won’t require a complete overhaul. Your website should evolve as your business grows with refreshed content, updated images, and color shift that should be all that’s needed.

Redoing your company’s website can be tricky and difficult to navigate.  Make sure you’re hiring a Marketing agency that takes the time to get to know you and your organization.  A key component is what we call a comprehensive Discovery meeting where we learn everything about what you need in your company’s website for today and tomorrow. Your website is an investment and you want to take good care of it just as you would your car.

Good luck with your next website and I hope this helps!
