Why You Should Share on Social Media: 3 Reasons Why

Written By: Hannah Hitchcock

Picture this, you just got done typing up this stellar blog post for your website. It’s primed and polished, ready for posting. Your post is now live on the website and that’s where it will stay. A week goes by and you notice you’re getting the same viewers or less.

Why is that?

You wrote a great post, it’s on your website, and SEO is picking it up, right? While all of those points are valid, there is one reason why you might have missed the viewers on this post: sharing.

Sharing on social media is a free and easy way to promote your posts, website, and business. You might be thinking at this point, sure! It’s free and easy but why should I do that? How will that help get more engagement and viewers?

Here are three reasons why you should share your post on social media.

Reason #1

Content Exposure

This seems like a given when you post on your website right? Some part of that is true! But more exposure can come from giving viewers an option to see it somewhere else. You wrote a great post! Don’t let it go unseen!

Sharing your post on Instagram, Facebook and other social media platforms will give a path for viewers to go back to your website and see what your business is all about.

That’s the goal, right?

You are more likely to get someone who saw your post from a social media platform to engage in a form of online communication with you or maybe even a face-to-face interaction.

Reason #2

Build Relationships

Sometimes when you share a post, it’s hard to find the value in it. Until you get someone who likes it. Or even better, they like it so much they share it. This is a great way to build relationships with your viewers.

Reach them where they are at.

This is a great concept. As a business, you want to connect and have a relationship with your clientele. That is hard to do if you post something on your website but they don’t go on your website enough to see what you’re posting. Now, say you find out that they use Facebook. Connect with them on there! Not only are you meeting them where they are, but you are making an intentional effort to connect with them.

Building relationships is easy when you are reaching out to where your viewers are instead of making them have to find you.

Reason #3

Online Presence

Having a website is a great starting point when you are building your online presence. This is a great starting point, not a “stay here” point. You have SO many ways to boost your online presence. A big one is sharing on social media.

How does sharing on social media boost your online presence?

When scrolling through Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc. You see tons of different posts from people, organizations, and ads. One way or another, you a saw post and somehow remembered it.

You just boosted someone’s online presence. See how easy that is? Sharing something new, events or a blog post on different social media platforms will boost your presence online and will overall flow more viewers to your website.

And there you have it! Being able to post on social media is a great tool to use when trying to engage, grow and communicate with your followers.

Happy sharing!!
