Meet team member Karen Miller! Karen has been a part of the Holmes team since April of 1999 as a Data Management Specialist and Production Artist. Karen’s favorite component of her job is being able to work independently. When asked what her favorite thing is about working at Holmes, she said, “Being challenged daily…and driving to work with my husband!”
We sat down with Karen and asked her a few questions about her role here at Holmes. Here’s what she had to say:
What does a “typical day” look like for you at the office?
As a Production Artist, I preflight all customer supplied files to ensure that they are set up properly for digital or offset printing. I also design projects according to the client’s input. This can range from business cards and newsletters to plant signage and vehicle graphics.
As a Data Management Specialist, I evaluate clients’ supplied mailing lists for consistency and completeness. I also CASS certify the lists to improve the accuracy of the zip codes for optimal postage rates from the USPS. I also use the data to add variable content.
What do you add to Holmes Marketing that sets us apart?
I am a detail oriented and organized person. I am able to manage multiple tasks and prioritize time well to meet deadlines and exceed expectations.
What skills have you gained/perfected while at Holmes?
I have definitely perfected the skill of “Reading Minds”. This allows me to not only do what the client asked for, but always more than they expected.
What is your favorite memory to date at Holmes?
Winning the Easter Egg decorating contest this past Spring!
Where is one area of your job you have noticed needed improvement and how are you working toward improving it daily?
Definitely the fine details of mailing. I track our mailer’s scorecard to make sure we’re meeting the USPS benchmarks and use our resources to try and keep up to date on what is going on.
